WHO WE ARE

The Brazilian Network of Journalists and Science Communicators (RedeComCiência) is a non-partisan, non-profit association that brings together professionals interested in discussing  and improve the quality of journalism and science communication in our country.

president

Journalist graduated from UNIFIEO, with a post in Journalistic Communication from Faculdade Cásper Líbero and Master and Doctor in Oncology from ACCamargo Câncer Center. Director/founder of SENSU Consultoria de Comunicação, an agency specializing in science, health and education. Collaborator at the Bori Agency, health reporter for the magazine Problems Brasileiros, curator of scientific content at Oncoclínicas and guest professor of the discipline Dissemination of Scientific Findings in Health: Science Popularization as a Strategy for Dissemination of Academic Knowledge to Non-Specialized Public of the Postgraduate Program -graduated in Dental Sciences from FOUSP and from the Dentistry Program at UFPR. Vice-president of RedeComCiência in the 2019-2021 management.

MEGHIE RODRIGUES

Vice president

Meghie Rodrigues is a freelance journalist specializing in science, environment and climate change coverage. He works mainly with the international media, with articles published on the portals SciDev.Net, Mongabay, Eos, Scientific American, Thomson Reuters Foundation and others. Master in Scientific and Cultural Dissemination by Unicamp, Meghie has already been a researcher at the Museum of Tomorrow, where she created the programs Tomorrow in Research, the first initiative aimed at promoting academic research at the Museum, and Women in Science, aimed at discussing gender in the scientific scope. At RedeComCiência, she was the director of National Integration in the 2019-2021 administration.

SAMUEL ANTENOR

National Integration

Journalist with a postgraduate degree in Scientific Journalism and a master's degree in Scientific Dissemination, both from Unicamp, he works in communication, consulting and journalism with an emphasis on S&T, Environment and Health. He was director of the Technical-Scientific Support Center of the Instituto de Saúde from SES-SP, editor of the Bulletin of the Health Institute (BIS), advisor to the Communication and Information Commission of the State Health Council of SP and communication advisor to FAPESP, where he also worked as a reporter for Revista Pesquisa and Agência FAPESP. He is currently editor of the IPEA Science, Technology and Society Research Center website.

MARIANA LENHARO

Communication and Content

Mariana Lenharo is a journalist with over 10 years of experience in health and science coverage. Having reported on a wide range of topics including astrophysics, neuroscience and climate change, he developed a special interest in public health and evidence-based medicine. After working in editorial offices for publications such as Estado de São Paulo, Folha de S.Paulo and G1, Mariana established herself as a freelance journalist, with articles published in Brazilian and international vehicles such as Scientific American, Elemental and BBC News Brasil. He holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a master's degree in scientific journalism from Columbia University.

SYLVIA MARIA AFFONSO DA SILVA

treasurer

Environmental biologist, dancer and communicator. He did an internship at the Botanical Gardens and colleges until he got to research. After 17 years at the Federal University of São Paulo, he realized how much Science is encapsulated and decided to study communication. After being a trainee at Folha de S.Paulo in 2018, she was communication coordinator at Pint of Science Brasil, took courses at UCL in London and is a trainer at the Academy Group of the Science Museum (UK). Today, he is studying art as a tool to spread Science, especially to children in vulnerable communities in São Paulo.

GRACIELE ALMEIDA DE OLIVEIRA

Director of National Integration

He studied for a bachelor's degree in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences - Biochemistry at the Instituto de Química USP. She was a substitute professor at Unifesp - Campus Diadema, did postdoctoral studies at Unifesp - Campus Capital and was a Guest Researcher at the National Cancer Institute (NIH, USA) with a postdoctoral fellowship from CNPq. The quest to develop a more citizen science dissemination led her to specialize in Scientific Journalism at Labjor-Unicamp and to attend a Degree in Educommunication at ECA-USP. He was responsible for the development and management of scientific dissemination of BINGO Telescope. Currently, he is part of the administration and communication teams at Unicamp's Science Blogs.

LUCAS GEORGE WENDT

Secretary

Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from the University of Vale do Taquari - Univates (2017) and Bachelor's Degree in Library Science from the University of Caxias do Sul - UCS (2020). Specialization in progress in Institutional Communication by the Faculty of Development of Rio Grande do Sul - Fadergs. Internal communication analyst, communication and marketing analyst and technical level professor, functions performed at Univates. Volunteer of the Research Group on Infocommunications Behavior and Skills (InfoCom/UFRGS). Secretary of the Brazilian Network of Journalists and Science Communicators (RedeComCiência) (Management 2021-2023). He is interested in the dynamics and flows of communication and the dissemination of science through journalism and information science.
